DOUBTFUL — METHODS DIFFERcrypto

Is GRT Halal?

Blockchain data indexing — utility token for querying data.

What You Should Know

The Graph's current Graph Horizon documentation describes Indexers staking GRT to provide query and indexing services, with Delegators sharing query-fee and indexing rewards. It has genuine data-service utility, but inflation-funded rewards, slashing and speculation remain school-dependent.

⚠️ Concerns

  • Delegated indexing rewards
  • Protocol inflation
  • Speculation

Issuer financial ratios are not applicable to this asset. This is a decentralized protocol or token, not an operating company or fund with an issuer balance sheet, debt schedule, receivables or revenue statement. The placeholder inputs are retained for schema integrity only and are not a financial classification. The methodology rows below preserve the qualitative, school-dependent analysis.

Business-activity disclosure

GRT supports decentralized blockchain data indexing, query processing, curation and delegation. Serving data is a genuine utility activity, but delegated indexing rewards, inflation, slashing and downstream application use require school-specific treatment.

Limitation: No issuer revenue, balance sheet or universal prohibited-activity numerator exists, so company-style quantitative screens cannot be applied.

Purification

No issuer income stream exists for a standardized purification calculation; indexing and delegation rewards require a qualified scholar's treatment.

Inputs, assumptions and primary sources
  • GRT is the utility token of a decentralized indexing network, not an operating company or fund with issuer financial statements.
  • The Graph documents describe Indexers staking GRT to provide query and indexing services, Delegators earning a share of indexer rewards, query-fee rebates and a 3% annual protocol-wide inflation reward stream; current Graph Horizon rules include a 28-day undelegation period and future slashability capability.
  • Debt, liquidity, receivables and income ratios are not economically applicable; placeholder inputs exist only for the shared record schema and are not a financial classification.

This is a reproducible financial screen, not a fatwa. A failed total-assets screen can coexist with a pass under a market-cap methodology. ZakatInvest keeps the qualitative assessment separate so numerical thresholds do not erase material context.
